I was tasked with creating a standard 52-card deck. Other than the parameters of that the deck must include two joker cards and four suits, the options were limitless and I chose man’s best friend as my subject matter.

I illustrated a base set of ten number cards and four face cards and vectorized the drawings. The color palette was inspired by the colorful graphics of Milton Glazer and Pushpin Studios, and the aesthetics were inspired by the quirks of the Risograph printing process. The design for the back of the cards was created as a custom pattern set to mimic the printing tests done on Risgraph machines before production.
